FOP Journal Wins “Most Improved” from Association Media & Publishing
Burbank, California, April 27, 2012 —Association Media & Publishing announced the FOP Journal as the winner of the award for “Most Improved — Newsletter Changing to Magazine (Bronze)” at the 32nd Annual EXCEL Awards. 911MEDIA transformed the former 12-page newsletter that focused exclusively on Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) news and carried no advertising into a 40+ page, full-color, advertiser-supported magazine with innovative designs and a wider range of job-related and lifestyle content.
Says 911MEDIA President and Publisher Mark Deitch, “We are proud of our partnership with the FOP in redesigning the FOP Journal. This award confirms that our talented team of individuals has landed the FOP Journal among the best in association publishing.”
“911MEDIA boosted the magazine’s professionalism and credibility. The new FOP Journal has been a huge success, not just in increasing the quality of the publication, but also in keeping our members informed on FOP news and events,” adds FOP President Chuck Canterbury.
The Excel Awards honor the best and brightest in association media and publishing. With more than 1,000 entries this year, 180 winners were chosen for displaying exemplary work in editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing, mobile applications, digital editions and electronic newsletter categories. “This year’s winners are breaking new ground and challenging boundaries with tremendous creativity. We applaud their ingenuity,” says Leslie McGee, EXCEL Awards chair.
The mission of the FOP Journal is to inform, educate and entertain the 319,000 members of the FOP. The Journal is the FOP’s critical informational link to its members, keeping them informed on important professional and personal issues affecting them and their families.
