911MEDIA Launches www.VIDA.la Website for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Youth Program

With the launch of www.VIDA.la, 911MEDIA expands the online presence and exposure for Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department program designed to teach at-risk youth decision-making skills and personal responsibility.

Burbank, California, January 3, 2011 — Delinquent and at-risk youth in Los Angeles County will now have an easier time connecting online with one of the best programs designed to help them learn decision-making skills and find new beginnings: Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives, or VIDA, Spanish for “life.” The Sheriff’s Department program’s new website, www.VIDA.la, created by marketing firm 911MEDIA, was recently launched in an effort to reach a wider audience of families seeking redirection for their pre-teens and teens.

The project was first conceived when Sergeant Mark Cripe, VIDA’s executive director, approached 911MEDIA, which has a long track record of designing innovative websites for special-interest groups, particularly those that cater to law enforcement. At the time, VIDA, with almost 10 sites across the county but limited funding, needed an online hub. 911MEDIA seized the opportunity and as a bonus donated its award-winning web design and development services.

The new site features in-depth information about the 16-week program, application forms, pictures, links to online resources for families, and a parents’ corner. Plans for future site expansion include a network for VIDA alumni, blog, videos, and expanded program information.

The site’s launch coincided with the graduation of a new VIDA class, the 20th in the program’s 10-year history. At the graduation ceremony, 911MEDIA was presented with a certificate of appreciation for its work.

Said President/CEO Mark Deitch, “911MEDIA is committed to assisting public-safety groups as they work to create grassroots connections with the people they serve. I was thrilled to be involved with VIDA’s structured, life-altering program for local youth.”
