911MEDIA Honored With Two 2021 APEX Awards for FOP, PPOA Projects

Burbank, California, August 20, 2021 — From a field of nearly 1,200 entries throughout the industry, two of 911MEDIA’s 2020 projects for the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association (PPOA) have been selected for this year’s APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, which recognize professional communicators for graphic design, editorial content and overall excellence.

“2020 was, by far, for most of us, the most challenging year we’ve ever experienced, both personally and professionally,” APEX Awards executive editor and senior judge Ken Turtoro wrote in his announcement of the winners. “There’s no doubt that everyone had to learn new and different ways to do their jobs.”

That was certainly the case for 911MEDIA’s dedicated staff and clients, and it was reflected in the projects that were recognized. 911MEDIA earned a Grand Award, the APEX Awards’ top honor, in the Magazines, Journals and Tabloids category for the April 2020 issue of Star & Shield magazine, published on behalf of PPOA. With an eye-catching COVID-themed cover, the issue featured vital information on health policies and procedures to help PPOA members stay safe as they continued to serve and protect the residents of L.A. County through the early dark days of the pandemic.

911MEDIA also garnered an Award of Excellence in a new APEX category, COVID-19 Media (Government/Association), for the specially targeted website it created for the FOP, fopcovid19.org. The site has provided crucial news and resources for law enforcement throughout the pandemic, including information on legislation, legal protections, health and wellness, and officers who have died in the line of duty due to COVID-19.

“I am so proud that 911MEDIA was able to offer valuable support to our longtime partners at PPOA and the FOP as their members risked their lives on the front lines throughout the pandemic to preserve public safety,” President and Publisher Mark Deitch says. “Helping our clients effectively communicate essential information is a reward in itself, but seeing our work continue to be placed among the best of the best in the industry is the icing on the cake. I want to thank our talented 911MEDIA team for rising to the challenge and continuing to turn out top-notch strategic communications throughout the unprecedented events of the past year.”
